Coimbatore: Even as various party leaders thronged CODISSIA addressing the people of Coimbatore in a united attack against the BJP regime, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) leader, M H Jawahirulla said, "The Modi regime which is in power at the Centre since 2014 have made many promises to people which are not fulfilled yet.
They have changed their names to ‘Chowkidar' (People’s Guard). They are actually the guards of millionaires. In the past five years, the Prime Minister has toured abroad 48 times. Did all these trips uplift the lives of poor people? He took millionaires such as Anil Ambani and Adani during his trips. Prime Minister Modi is not the guard for the common man."
"Medium and small scale industries in Coimbatore had flourished before. But this has been spoiled due to the implementation of GST, as many firms had to shut down due to GST. Modi has turned out as the brand ambassador of business companies and now has forged an alliance with the Election Commission. Where is the amount he confiscated from containers. Our Alliance will emerge victorious in all the constituencies in the upcoming elections," he added.

Kandasamy, ex-Congress MLA opined, "The election manifesto of Congress and DMK are common. Both parties have highlighted that NEET will be cancelled. NEET is an exploitation of the lives of underprivileged people. Education loans will be granted to students. Industries will be re-opened in Coimbatore which has been crippled in all its major businesses including agriculture, weaving and industries. To recover, we need to throw AIADMK from power, for which people should support DMK," he urged.

Mutharasan, the District Secretary of CPI said, "Coimbatore is a district comprising of people from different working categories. Both workers and their businesses have declined these days. Only our coalition can protect these workers. The AIADMK regime has handed over the drinking water distribution scheme to a company from France. Water is being sold in all the Municipalities and Corporations. People should throw this regime out of power which has been instrumental in selling our drinking water distribution to foreign companies."
